Member Contribution Scorecard
- One of the most challenging aspects of implementing and managing work
teams is performance management of the individual team members.
- Do you pay them based on team performance or individual
contribution?
- We advocate measuring both.
- For measuring individuals, we suggest a contribution scorecard, in which
each team member ranks each other team member on several,
team-relevant performance criteria. The average criterion ranking
scores are then statistically adjusted to avoid measurement error (e.g.,
people being ranked by different numbers of evaluators) and then summed
and/or weighted for compensation decisions.
- Of course, it is imperative that team members know in advance that their
performance will be assessed along these criteria!
